Spread 106 – Scavneger Hunt

Spread 106 – Scavenger Hunt

8 September 2012

Vintage and personal papers, matte medium, acrylic paint, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, matte varnish, Signo white pen, black gel pen, red Sharpie poster pen.

When I was young my older brother would make me elaborate scavenger hunt maps. These maps would send us on adventures on our farm and neighborhood that would take all day long. I look back on this memory fondly of my time with my brother and bonding over these adventures. I had long forgotten this memory until I sat down a few days ago to work on an assignment for part of Orly’s class today. This spread is from that class. How many memories are locked away in my personal maps?

Stunning spread and wonderful story Brian! Every time I hear a story from your childhood, it sounds as thought was just brimming with MAGIC! You should consider a spread about that =-)

Looks like today’s workshop was a fruitful one – sorry I missed it! =-(

Brian–i love what you did on this piece–the other day i was reading our local newspaper, The San Jose Mercury News–all of a sudden i recognized you in my little newspaper—i was so excited–the Mercury News has lost most of it’s zip these past 15 years–one day the subscribers will receive a small envelope with a one page newspaper in it !!! BUT, it has redeemed itself for a short time by having you included in the article—sam aka sheila

What a treasure of a story, Brian! I am envious as my brother is twelve years older and seemingly from a different generation. No scavenger hunts from him. It is a fantastic memory and now remembered. I love your use of maps. Jill should see this one.
