I was very excited to be asked by my friend Seth Apter to create a piece and be a one of 14 Gallery Artists for his latest book “The Mixed-Media Artist: Art Tips, Tricks, Secrets and Dreams from Over 40 Amazing Artists.”
“Moochie”
August 19, 2012
11″ X 14″ Canvas, Nova Color acrylic paints, personal, found and handmade papers and photos, Sigano white gel pen, Sharpie china marker, Micron pens.
“Moochie” was created based upon Seth’s prompt, “Imaginary Worlds”. I also loved the challenge of creating something based upon the world of my imagination. Parts of it are based upon my life, which began in Montana. One of my fondest memories of my childhood is of my dog Moochie. Moochie was a part of my family even before I was born until he passed away when I was 14 years old. Moochie and I had many adventures growing up on 5.5 acres. He never left our side growing up. My mom always said she never had to worry about where we were, as she could just look out the window for that black dot that was Moochie and she knew that is where we were, he was right by our side. I loved Moochie very much, thoughts of him still bring tears to my eyes. He is still a very important part of my dream life as I still dream about all of my pets I have had over my life. As with most of my art, each piece has deep meaning for me and I like to leave most of it up to interpretation of the viewer so that is all I am going to give you about “Moochie”. This is also the first canvas I have done and I have to say I really enjoyed working on canvas and the experience has me wanting to work on larger canvases now.
